There are many differences between Swallows and Swifts. The main ones are
that Swallows have a white front and red markings at the front of their
face. Swifts are dark brown all over. Swifts very rarely land, spending
most of their lives 'on the wing'. They are even known to sleep and breed
whilst in flight (but not at the same time)!! Swallows favour telephone
wires and poles to perch on.
