Like the night: Bob Dylan and the road to the Manchester Free Trade Hall, C.P.Lee, Helter Skelter Publishing, £12.00. 1900924072

1966. Dylan is half-way through a world tour. Every night he is getting booed by folk-purists. "Judas!" shouts one. That night's concert is recorded, and becomes the most famous bootleg ever. Mistakely titled 'Bob Dylan - Royal Albert Hall', the concert (and the heckle) actually took place in Manchester. Eye-witness C.P.Lee, amusingly describes the background to that incendiary Northern night. (And also glosses the cultural history of Didsbury.)
